Tips on finding a bartending job:

Summer is almost here!  Our clients are looking for bartenders and barmaids.

Here's a summary of tips for finding a job from Philip Duff :

1.  If you don't have alot of experience, take any job in a bar.  You can move up if you build the right relationships.

2.  It is much easier to find a bartending gig if you are already working as a bartender/barmaid...don't be picky, if you don't have alot of experience.  Learn your trade and get paid for it, even if the bar is not the ideal venue for you.

3.  Do your research.  What image does the bar portray. What drinks are served. Do you fit in?

4.  One page CV's with a photo of you smiling...please! Get a cellphone with voice-mail .. include this and your email on your CV.

5.  Any bar experieince is good to bring up in an interview...it tells the owner/manager that you have the basic skill sets.

6.  2 days after the interview, follow up with the manager/owner if you haven't heard anything.  Then wait..don't stalk them!

7. The bar industry is very incestuous.  Do not burn any bridges if you leave a bar position.
